Ensure that the existing surface texture and any overlying paint is firmly bonded to the background.
Surfaces should be clean, dry, free from dirt, dust and grease. Dampen the surface using a large wet sponge. Remove any loose material and prominent texture points by scraping the surface with the spatula. Once this has been completed, it is advisable to apply Artex Easifix Primer liberally to the surface and allow to dry.
Using the spatula, load the smoother with Artex Easifix Smooth-It. Apply an even coat with firm, sweeping strokes. When the whole surface is covered, allow to dry until firm to the touch. Repeat the process as many times as required to reach the desired smoothness. Clean tools using warm soapy water immediately after use.
Tip: always work the first coat into the texture in several directions to infill any little gaps.
Allow to dry a minimum of 12 – 24 hours ensuring that the room temperature remains above 5°C and adequate ventilation is provided.
This kit is sufficient to cover 4m² of standard stipple finish.
Replace lid securely for future use. Store in dry conditions and protect from temperatures below 5°C or above 40°C. The container should always be kept airtight. Stored correctly, Easifix Smooth-It has a shelf life of 12 months. Tubs should be clearly marked with a ‘Use by date’.
