Thistle Magnetic plaster is a unique new product designed to transform any wall into a surface which attracts magnets.
Apply like a standard finishing plaster to leave a background which can be used as an interactive gallery around a home or office.
wall using Thistle Magnetic Plaster
Ensure areas are clean, dry and free from flaking material, oil and grease. For gloss surfaces lightly sand to provide a key, then using a damp sponge remove the dust and allow to dry. Apply a coat of Thistle GypPrime or Thistle Bond-it for pre-treatment where necessary.
Add approximately 8 litres of clean water per bag to a mixing bucket and gradually add the plaster whilst mixing to a preferred consistency.
Apply the first coat at 2–3mm and flatten without removing material. Allow to firm up (approximately 40 minutes on wallboard).
Then mix a fresh batch of magnetic plaster and apply second coat at 1–2mm thickness. Trowel up as needed and avoid over polishing using water, but keep the trowel damp.
Times and processes are given as guidance and on-site practice may vary. Finishing times are reduced by suction and are extended by cold weather conditions.
The magnetic attraction of a wall coated with Thistle Magnetic Plaster is determined by the thickness of the material applied and the strength of the magnets used. A minimum thickness of 3mm is required to enable magnetic attraction.
Thistle Magnetic Plaster coverage is 5.1m2 for 3mm coverage.
To provide a plaster skim finish that provides an attraction to magnets used to finish a wide range of backgrounds, including undercoat plasters and plasterboard.
